The Legend of Luke Kelly with Chris Kavanagh & The Patriots
Saturday, 3 October 2009
In concert at Clasaċ in Clontarf, Dublin 3.
Luke Kelly will always be remembered by the vast majority of Irish musicians as the greatest folk singer/artist of the 20th century, if not all time. His voice was as powerful as it was unique. He died in January 1984, a young man still, with so much singing still to do. Luke Kelly is a legend and will not be forgottenThere has been a revival of interest in the music of Luke Kelly these last couple of years and we feel like we've made a contribution in bringing about that revival, especially among some younger generations. We brought the music of Luke back to the live stage in every corner of the country and we will continue to do so, proudly.
Chris Kavanagh sings lead vocals and plays long neck 5 string banjo. Joe Finn plays uileann pipes, whistles and fiddle. Graham Doyle plays acoustic guitar and sings backing vocals. Gavin Doyle plays bass guitar and sings backing vocals.
It is the mission of Chris Kavanagh and The Patriots to bring a taste of the late, great Luke Kelly back into peoples lives. And to bring our own music into peoples lives too. Our own songs are performed with the influence of the great man behind them.
